Honey Oat Cinnamon Squares

Is honey the perfect food? I'm convinced. Not only is honey sweet and natural, but it makes baked goods so moist and flavorful! Plus these chewy squares are then topped with a honey glaze...making this a truly BEE-u-tiful dessert!


Directions

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees and line an 8 x 8 baking dish with parchment paper.

2. In medium bowl, whisk together the flour, oats, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.

3. In a large bowl or in the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the butter until creamy.

4. Add the sugar, honey, egg and vanilla. Mix until well combined.

5. Add the flour/oat mixture to the wet mixture and mix until well blended.

6. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the edges are golden brown.

7. Remove from oven and cool completely on a wire rack.

8. Make the glaze. In a medium bowl whisk together the powdered sugar, honey, vanilla and half the milk.

9. Add remaining milk a little at a time as needed until glaze is desired consistency. Icing should be thick and smooth.

10. Once pan has cooled completely, pour the glaze on top of the bars.

11. Let harden for an hour before cutting into squares.

Sprinkle cinnamon over the top if desired.

12. Cover and store in the refrigerator.

I love baking with honey! These Honey Oat Cinnamon Squares combine honey, hearty oats, cinnamon and then are topped with a honey glaze! This is truly a BEE-u-tiful dessert!

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup quick cook oats
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Honey Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-2 teaspoons milk
  • Cinnamon for topping
